Rachel has had recurring headaches and migraines since she moved to Calgary eight years ago. At times, these headaches have interfered with her daily life making it difficult to work and study. She is well on her way to being free of these after a couple of months of chiropractic care.
She brought her 8 month old baby with her on one visit and the intake exam revealed that he had a round discoloured rash on his back and raised bumps around his neck, in a red ring. The exam also revealed that his intestinal tract sounded as though his food was being processed slowly.
Rachel had checked several sources online and asked her family doctor about his bowel movements and had concluded that this was not a problem, but he was only having bowel movement every four or five days. Any time a person is having a bowel movement less often than daily (preferably twice a day), there is an issue.
The location of the rash indicated that even though he was breastfed, he was not handling dairy products in her milk well. With a couple of gentle adjustments to his spine, there was a release of the bowels and he was soon pooping more than twice a day.
Rachel has substituted coconut milk in her daily diet and she has found that this works well for them both. It may be that the adjustments have helped with his sleep, or maybe it is the dairy, but he no longer tosses his head from side to side, so his sleeping is calmer and that is always a good thing.
